The stronghold of Afro- Cuban culture
Santiago de Cuba

Evoking a distinctly Caribbean feel, Santiago swings to its own laid-back vibe. Although it is Cuba's second city, it is only one-sixth its size, so feels compact and easy to get around, but with some very notable sights and a fascinating history. The Spanish-American War and key Revolution events took place here, much of Cuba’s traditional music was birthed here, and the energy level is high despite the often, overwhelming heat.
