“I can’t put into words all the experiences we are having on a daily basis”

We are the only guests here at Ubuntu.  It’s our private camp and that’s an added bonus. The staff are so attentive to our needs (we are not a high maintenance group) but they made sure they take care of us well.

I can’t put into words all the experiences we are having on a daily basis. We have seen most of the things we wanted to see and we are just of our Day 5. We saw an actual lion hunt and we were just a few meters away. It happened right before our eyes.

Yesterday after our Game Drive, the staff of Ubuntu Migration Camp surprised us with drinks in the middle of the Savannah. Our guide was driving towards an acacia tree because he said he spotted a leopard on the tree. We tried looking for it but when our vehicle approached the said tree, the staff were there to surprise us with drinks. That was so nice of them. We appreciated it a lot.

“Overall the trip was beyond my expectations. Thank you for organizing this trip and the patience in answering our concerns and queries”

Overall the trip was beyond my expectations. Our safari tour guide Mr. Elissa Ngonya was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and smart. He was a good driver and has a great personality and humor. He was accommodating to our requests and needs during the safari.  Definitely he is the best guide I have been with in all my trips. The Ubuntu migration camp staff also was also great. The accommodations and food  on both camps (Tarangire and Serengeti) were very good. Thank you for organizing this trip and the patience in answering our concerns and queries.

“You made us forget the chaos in today’s crazy times and we felt so safe and secure despite traveling during the pandemic”

Thank you A2A for making our honeymoon safari unforgettable. You made us forget the chaos in today’s crazy times and we felt so safe and secure despite traveling during the pandemic. Every single detail was thought of from the meet and greet at the airport upon arrival, smooth transfers, booking PCR tests, selection of camps, etc. We couldn’t have asked for anything more and cannot wait to return. Asante sana!

“We are delighted to have been in the African bush without a mask and to have enjoyed the wonderful experience that is being "on safari"”

We are delighted to have been in the African bush without a mask and to have enjoyed the wonderful experience that is being "on safari". All the arrangements went smoothly from the time we arrived in SA, through to our return - thank you, Michelle.  We were allocated very experienced guides in every camp who all told us, that this was essential given our experience and Raj’s knowledge!

We did okay at Kanga, but the game was limited to the waterhole and two nights would have been enough  The facilities and services were adequate but simple -  Joyce was a nice camp manager, Cliffy an obliging guide and Bread a good waiter.  We could see they were hopeful that tourists would soon return in their numbers.  The thicket makes it very difficult to track or see game outside the waterhole, there are Tsetse flies and the accommodation is rustic.  Their resident dogs had long gone.

Mana Pools is beautiful and the Vundu concession is one of the more beautiful parts of it.  We had a wonderful time up close with Boswell, Tusker and  a flock of Carmine bee eaters which were nesting.  Sunset cruising on the Zambesi was magical with so few tourists around.  We were impressed wth the high standard of guides at Vundu: from Freedom, (who really knew his biology), and Mitch (who Nick passed us onto for the fourth and fifth days). Nick himself was great, if a little distracted by the BBC film crew who were getting increasingly stressed with the dogs not there. Nick was always professional.

I’m sure we would have been fine with Vundu if we had seen the dogs, but unfortunately they had disappeared for 9 days including the 5 we were there. According to Nick, there would have been less risk of absent dogs if we had come at the end of July, or the beginning of August, when the dogs were denning. The pups had  been out and away for 3-4 weeks.  That said, the dogs were usually there at this time but had been scared off by hyena - such is the wild.

The beautiful Somalisa was a relief: large modern rooms, large with private decks and thoughtfully appointed for guest comfort and convenience - not grand or colonial like Great Plains’ Zarafa, and I liked them better... and of course they are much better value!  Even though it was busier, I could have done 5 days there.  We needed the  bath every afternoon to cool off. There was much wider selection at meal times and more service staff.   We saw 1000 elephant everyday come to the waterhole in front of the main deck confirming that Zimbabwe had provided our best elephant sightings.  (We’d had excellent sightings of elephant at Kanga and Vundu too).  Mike was our experienced guide.

We are pleased we went to the spectacular Vic Falls and liked Fred, the guy from ABC who did our transfers.  He agreed to take us to the Falls at 6.00am and with only one other couple there, it was an intimate experience.  He also organised a sunset boat cruise for us last night. The PCR test was super efficient with results back in 2 hours.

We are off to the airport and to plan our next trip to see cats…. and dogs.  Enough of elephants for awhile!

“We had a wonderful time - what a bonus 8 days more in safari land”

We had a wonderful time - what a bonus 8 days more in safari land.

We were so well taken care of by your team on the ground … and although sightings were few and far between in little duma tau - the guys surely made up for it with all the experience on the barge and river.

And seeing those swimming ellies were surreal.

“Here the oldest roads are elephant trails. The smell of wild sage so strong, it is only overpowered by the random animal carcass. It is the garden of eden: vast, fertile and unspoiled. What a treat for the senses! ”

Mombo magic! My phone cam could never do justice to the scenery here. The game viewing is legendary and touted as arguably the best in the world, earning it the nickname “the place of plenty”. But the scenery will blow your mind. The sunrises and sunsets over the savannah, the blanket of stars at night, the peace occasionally disturbed, or heightened, by birdsong and the sounds of the various animals that call it home. You need only to look out your tent to see wild animals grazing nearby. And if you are lucky like we were, you come home to a leopard casually strutting on the boardwalk and wake up to an elephant eating from the tree just outside your tent.

Here the oldest roads are elephant trails. The smell of wild sage so strong, it is only overpowered by the random animal carcass. It is the garden of eden: vast, fertile and unspoiled. What a treat for the senses!

a place of always eating,
a place of never feeling hunger,

Your team really took care of us so well. I am priveleged to have the A2A experience.

“All love for Kenya and Rwanda, you are a beautiful memory”

Being able to spot all of the sights that we did must have been some crazy unknown luck. I swear, having to see the Big 5, pack of wild dogs, the river crossing during the migration and everything in between may sound doable, but trust me it may even take years to see what we saw. Having it all accomplished on our first safari is nothing short of amazing. All love for Kenya and Rwanda, you are a beautiful memory.
