“Glamping, because life is too short not to have fun”

At the salt flats of Uyuni in Bolivia. A vast expanse of salt flats which is quite rightly Bolivia's piece de resistance.  Glamping, because life is too short not to have fun.

A Pisco Sour before take-off. Adios, Peru and Bolivia! We had the most awesome adventure. Muchas gracias! And thank you @a2asafaris for making it all possible.

Pat and I would like to thank you and Claire for assisting us with our first trip to Mexico. We can’t wait to explore and yes we will want to eat in the best places and markets. Recommendations would be great as we want an authentic Mexican experience. A tour guide with food knowledge would be great too!

Thanks again Binky, Claire, and the rest of the A2A team!

“I have been fortunate to have seen and experienced some of the most beautiful corners of this earth, so beautiful, that it has moved me to tears”

A rare appearance, but how could I not. I have been fortunate to have seen and experienced some of the most beautiful corners of this earth, so beautiful, that it has moved me to tears. This sunset in the flooded salt pans at Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia is one of them.

“This journey taught us the value of our planet and the importance of preserving this pristine environment for generations to come”

My wife and I were fortunate enough to be part of the first expedition to Antarctica last year, on the ship Sea Explorer I.   Twenty one magnificent days spent with world famous photographers, devoted planet conservationists, wildlife surveyors, environmentalists, geologists, etc.

Truly a humbling and learning experience.

The goal was to reach the Frozen Continent!  What awaited us were sights unimaginable.  Especially South Georgia, a pristine white playground for millions of penguins and seals, where we walked giving way to animals 10 times our size. This stunning magical white world of icebergs and glaciers, where dolphins and whales swam for miles along the ship, with albatrosses hovering over us and huge whales sliding under our kayaks.

In this calendar, I am sharing some of my favorite pictures that I clicked under the guidance and help of my dear friend, Jose Cortes, a world traveler, a wildlife enthusiast and an exceptional photographer.

This journey taught us the value of our planet and the importance of preserving this pristine environment for generations to come.

“I'd like to think Mexico has hypnotized me. My time there made me feel like a citizen rubbing elbows with Frida Kahlo - which, in a way, I did”

From the moment I stepped on foot in its city capital, to when I visited the tree-lined streets of San Angel and Coyocacan and the waterways of Xochimilco, I was immersed in its whirlwind of culture, traditions and habits.

My time there made me feel like a citizen rubbing elbows with Frida Kahlo - which, in a way, I did.

Many years of traveling has taught me this: you never leave a foreign country unless you want to. Mexico, since my visit, has stayed with me.

“As for Mashpi, I must thank you for recommending this wonderful place to me. I can say it really is one the most amazing places I have ever visited”

All and all, it was a wonderful trip for me and I am very happy that Mashpi was at the end of the trip and not the beginning.

Gallapagos was of course wonderful.  The Celebrity Explorer is a small ship to begin with and on top, there were only 5 passengers including myself. The crew was twice the number of the pax.

As for Mashpi, I must thank you for recommending this wonderful place to me. I can say it really is one the most amazing places I have ever visited. The food and lodging was very good, beautiful room and gourmet standard food.  So happy to see all the different humming birds, tucans, tangents.  We saw a baby snake, a few types of frogs when we did the night walk and we even saw a tayra. For me, the most amazing thing was the cable car ride with the overview of the primary forest.  It was like Jurassic Park. I felt so lucky to be able to have such a beautiful view of real nature.

Also, it was mind boggling to see, not the vegetation as Hong Kong has many similar species of the plants and trees, but it’s like Gullilver’s Travels and the little people. The leaves of the similar species are all like 10 times bigger than the one we see in HK. I felt sort like Alice in wonderland!

“I personally would completely recommend all of the places we went to! Tierra is now my #1 hotel! Loved everything about it!!! ”

We had a great time in Patagonia! The places we went to were incredible! Thanks for organizing such a great trip!!!

We all really enjoyed the trip tremendously! I think in retrospect, and if the bookings would have worked out in our favor I would have done Torres del Paine first, then Singular a place to relax and would have ended in El Calafate with a bang with all the huge glaciers, just because once you see Perito Moreno, Upsala and Viedma the glaciers offered in Chile weren’t as impressive. I know we had to accommodate whatever space was available and I am glad we were able to accommodate everything since it was all incredible but I do think El Calafate (while not having the beautiful sights of Tierra) does offer more non-trek excursion possibilities.

I personally would completely recommend all of the places we went to!  Thanks again for coming up with such a great itinerary!!!!!  Tierra is now my #1 hotel! Loved everything about it!!!

On our way I ended up bumping into one of my middle school teachers coming back from a trip in Argentina and she is looking to go to Africa for her 25th wedding anniversary so I told her about A2A Safaris so hopefully she’ll contact you!

Thanks again for everything and hope to be organizing another trip with you guys soon enough!

“We had a fabulous trip”

We had a fabulous trip. I am copying our eldest daughter who is putting together photo and video montages of trip, and also wrote a blog of the trip which she can share.

At some point for the future, I would love to see a sample itinerary for an African Safari, as we discussed when we were away this is what we would like to do next.

“It’s the fourth time I’ve used them and each trip – I’d like to think – has made me slightly better for it”

Safaris and adventure travel are best organised by specialist companies. Find one that you are comfortable with and that meets your needs. A2A Safaris organised my safari. It’s the fourth time I’ve used them and each trip – I’d like to think – has made me slightly better for it.

Bon voyage!

“I am already looking at a second round with Machu Picchu, after I get into better shape. Best wishes!”

It has been a wonderful experience. Tiring but worth it. My daughter and I have had to rest due to the altitude, hectic pace and I suspect some allergies.

We should have alloted more time to tour Cusco and Sacred Valley, and again be in better shape.  The dining experience was fun.  The top restaurants had very good ambience.  The dishes were well presented and generally good.  There were, however, some "strange" tastes that I encountered.  I guess I am not an adventurous foodie.

I am already looking at a second round with Machu Picchu, after I get into better shape. Best wishes!

The service of your people and Coltur was admirable, given the strike issues in Machu Picchu.

“I left Easter Island with more questions than answers. All in all I had a great trip to a country with wonderful and variety of scenery, great food and excellent service. ”

I left Easter Island with more questions than answers. Luck was on my side as I only encountered an afternoon of rain so I adjusted my excursions to that of visiting the museum when it was raining. The food was good and accommodation reasonable. The guides were all very enthusiastic and encourage guests to do as much as possible.

I spent a total of 8 wonderful days in Awasi. Having been in Patagonia first, where I had a really Wow experience, I cannot say the same for Atacama. It is good but certainly not great. The service levels are great but it is the small things that distinguishes a great experience from a good one. The food served in Awasi Patagonia is exquisite and comparable to some of the Michelin rated restaurants. The service of both places were excellent and so were the excursions.

All in all I had a great trip to a country with wonderful and variety of scenery, great food and excellent service. Accommodation was top notch and there were no delays in flights.

Many thanks Matthew and A2A and not forgetting Steph - wherever she may be presently, for making the trip possible. Many thanks for a hassle free experience.
